Police are seeking two suspects in a series of East Village armed street robberies.
Two of the incidents occurred on Mon., June 27. At 4:20 a.m. the robbers, one wielding a handgun, held up a man, 29, on E. Seventh St. across from Tompkins Square Park, demanded his property and fled on foot west with it. At 4:40 a.m. the two robbers stopped a woman, 20, opposite 510 E. 11th St. between Avenues A and B, and fled west with her cell phone and wallet.
On Wed., July 6, the two suspects held up two women on E. 11th St. near Avenue B and demanded their handbags. When the victims held onto their bags, the suspects punched them in the face and managed to make off with one of the bags containing $200, credit cards, a cell phone and a digital camera.
One suspect was described as Hispanic, between 20 and 25 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, having a long, black ponytail, wearing blue jeans and a baseball cap and armed with a handgun. The other suspect was described as Hispanic, between 20 and 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds, and wearing blue jeans and a dark shirt.
